The results are in! The nation’s leading Corvette magazines have tested Pro-Torque’s new C5 torque converter and are reporting a .4-.6-seconds improvement in 1/4-mile times with no other changes. Noted Corvette tuners such as Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, Mallet Motorsports, Doug Rippie Motorsports, C5 Concepts and Pro Autotech recommend Pro-Torque torque converters because they deliver the performance increase and driveability their discerning customers demand.
"While many torque converter manufacturers are focused simply on stall-speed (the amount of torque converter slip), Pro-Torque understands that torque multiplication is the key to performance" states Pro-Torque’s Joe Rivera. "We build our C5 torque converters with state-of-the-art cores originally designed for high horsepower and high efficiency. Our stator and turbine modifications perfectly match the LS1’s torque curve. There is literally no loss of driveability with our converters."
Pro-Torque’s C5 torque converters are available in three stall speeds: 2600rpm which is ideal for most street applications, and 3200rpm or 3500rpm for street and strip use where larger or stickier tires will be used to harness the overwhelming torque available at the rear wheels. 2600RPM is built on a 10in core while both Strip applications are built on a 10 1/2-inch-diameter core strengthened with furnace-brazed fins, Torrington thrust bearings in place of plain thrust washers, anti-ballooning plates, and larger carbon ceramic lock-up clutches. Pro-Torque’s proprietary manufacturing equipment ensures precise internal tolerances and balance.
